to study and explore the literary, spiritual, and intellectual legacy of America’s great sage and teacher. The American Transcendentalists, of whom Emerson was the leading figure, were among the most dynamic, visionary thinkers in our history and their work is still profoundly relevant. His words are both inspirational and fortifying and always address a love of freedom and a deep abiding need for Self-reliance.
We continue with Self-reliance, the essence of these Transcendental teachings. You can enter the class at any time; the Conversations are so deep.

Barbara Solowey
Teacher/Inspirant
As a teacher of literature and philosophy, she has worked in the New York City public and private schools for almost 40 years, lectured on Emerson at the School of Practical Philosophy, the Open Center and elsewhere. She loves how philosophical conversations bring greater freedom and joy to everyone.
